Q: I called the shelter about a dog I found on DogsInDanger, and the shelter told me that this dog was already adopted. Why is he still listed on your site?
Answer
A: That is good news that the dog was adopted! The DogsInDanger site is dedicated to shelter dogs that are facing euthanasia.
Registration is limited to municipal shelters and animal control agencies that euthanize. The shelters login to the site and are responsible for
maintaining their own listings. Due to limited staff time and resources, sometimes shelters don't get to login right away and incorrect information can
temporarily show up on the site until they do. The information on the site is time critical and we encourage the shelters to keep their information current.
The shelters are the best source for current information.

There are two ways that a dog's name and photo will go into memorial: 1) the shelter logs in and changes the dog's status to euthanized; or
2) if the dog's scheduled euthanasia date passes, and the dog's status is not updated by the shelter, the dog's name and photo will automatically roll over to memorial.
In either case, this can be changed by the shelter if needed.

Q: I found a dog on DogsInDanger and it said he had 2 days left to live,
and now it says he has 6 days left to live. How can this be?
Answer
A: We realize that a euthanasia date sometimes needs to be revised due to changing factors, such as adoption interest in the dog,
unexpected influx of new dogs, sudden behavior or health problems, etc. Just for these situations, DogsInDanger allows the shelter to
revise the euthanasia date, shortening or lengthening the amount of time, if needed.

Q: I want to adopt a dog in another state. Is there a way to transport the dog to me?
Answer
A: The shelters handle their own adoptions and set their own policies and procedures. We have no control over the shelters. DogsInDanger does not
currently sponsor dogs for adoption or transport. Some shelters have local arrangements
with volunteers and rescue groups to foster dogs that are sponsored through them. Some shelters also have transport resources, or volunteers willing to
transport to an airport if the adopter pays transportation costs. You would need to make arrangements directly with the shelter. All shelters have their own
policies regarding out-of-state adoption and transport. Some allow it; others do not.
|
Q: Do you cross post this information to other sites like Craigslist?
Answer
A: The shelters login to the site and maintain their own listings on DogsInDanger. DogsInDanger does not cross post DogsInDanger listings to any other sites.

Q: Why do you guys kill dogs?
Answer
A: DogsInDanger is not a shelter and we do not have or kill dogs. We are a national pet adoption website using technology to bring potential adopters to the
dogs most in need. The site is dedicated to shelter dogs that are facing euthanasia. Millions of dogs are killed each year in shelters.
We are trying to help the shelters find homes for more of those dogs. The service is free to shelters and to adopters.
